Le Prix Polar International

Just received an email from my French publishers telling me that Dead Simple (French version "Comme Une Tombe") has been shortlisted for Le Prix Polar International award. This is quite prestigious - previous winners have included Elmore Leonard, Elizabeth George and Ian Rankin, so I am well chuffed.

I simply loved "Dead Simple", although I rather felt a bit left hanging at the end as there was no closure for Michael regarding Ashley. But it was a deadly, simply great novel!

Congratulations!! My favourite non-Grace book was Sweetheart. Did you win a prize for that one?

    Hi Linda

Thanks for your good wishes. And thanks hugely for your high praise for Alchemist. I never won a prize for the novel, but it was made into a four-hour tv minseries and that won the runner-up Public Awareness Of Science Award, which I was very proud about. I did a huge amount of research in the pharmaceutical industry for that book, and part of its theme is on the potential for control of the human race, and for misbehaviour that pharmaceutical giants are increasingly going to have the ability to execute.

    Hi Andrea

I will be doing the Captain Kirk story imminently. I'm really behind on my blog because I had to take time out to get my new novel (Not Dead Enough) finished and it took longer than I had thought. Now going to get down to serious blogging again...!!

    Hello Peter,

I was recommending Dead Simple to a colleague who directed me to your website, and she wondered why you are not a client of ours. I said I would ask!

    Hey Peter,

My name is Aaron Adams, i was recently working at Blak Friedmann and Carole introduced me to Dead Simple. Now im from the generation of video games and rubbish television but for once and i mean once, i read your novel. Every morning i would go to carole and be like "o my God". Fantastic concept and fantstic characters. Im now looking forward to reading Looking Good Dead and Carole told me she will keep me in the loop for the third installment. Just thought id let you know that you have converted me to your novels, and that i prob wont give any other novels the time of day. By the way im a scriptwriter at university and if you want to make me famous you could give me the movie rights for Dead Simple.lol (i'm willing to negotiate)
    Thanks.

    Hi Aron

Thanks for these very kind words - I'm very flattered to be the only novelist that you are reading! But I do hope reading my books will make you want to read the works of some others also - there is so much amazing writing, both modern and from previous decades and centuries that I'm sure you would love as much.

Do keep me posted on how your scriptwriting goes - I would love to see a sample of your work some time.

    All very best

    Peter

    Awesome!!!

I'm shellshocked. Didnt expect a quick reply.

Carole gave me two other novels before i left Blake Freidmann, Craig Russells Brother Grimm and Deon Meyers Dead at daybreak. Obviously these will have to wait until i finish Looking Good Dead but i may give them the once over. I would love you to see a sample of my work, if you are sure? If you did i would also appreciate any criticism and advice in how to improve my scripts. I'm about to begin my last year at Bournemouth University and the advice would help me develop the feature i have to write.

    Thanks Peter,

    Aaron Adams

    Hi Aaron

Thanks for sending me the script - I will read it asap - I have a massive reading pile so it will take me a week or two to get to it - and will certainly let you have my commments. All best
