  I've just recently finished Faith and was looking around for reviews and found this one which I think says it all:

  For Ransome, there is only one solution to this ultimate betrayal. If he cannot have his wife, no-one can...
  
  Peter James has made himself a reputation as an author who can write horrific thrillers, but who does not actually go into the Stephen King genre of horror. Instead, they centre on people and real life, which makes them all the more believable.
  His characters do seem very human and realistic and he certainly expends a great deal of energy on making sure the reader believes what is happening.
  
  The plot is also credible and it certainly seems that James has done a great deal of research into the medical world, with illnesses such as Lendt's Disease, etc., all being explained for the layperson.
  
  I first discovered this author when he wrote 'The Truth'. That was fantastic, as was his next novel, 'Denial'. I am pleased to be able to say that 'Faith' is no exception. It is a thrilling, interesting, fast-paced read - the fact that it is realistic enough to be true makes it all the more disturbing.

  Thomas Lamark's mother takes an overdose rather than face the end of her acting career, making Thomas decide that someone needs to pay for it. His mother was seeing a psychiatrist and Thomas is going to make this doctor pay, as he holds him responsible.
  
  This is a great novel, better than 'The Truth', which I thought was superb. This novel is fast-paced and the character of Thomas Lamark, who James develops throughout, is one of the nastiest characters that I have come across in a long time. The plot was always moving along and James never allows it to become stagnant, there is always some form of action to develop it.
  
  It is of a good length, it is not too long and it is not too short. If you are a fan of crime fiction, then I am sure this will appeal to you.
  It is not too violent or graphic and it is very modern and up to date.
  An excellent crime novel, so good it made me disappointed when I reached the end.

  Hi to you Jo, I see you are an avid reader of Peters books. Have you read The Alcemist? It is by far my favourite and I have read them all. Fantastic, brilliantly clever plot, very fast paced and full of twists and turns. Outstanding characters, I just loved it.....can you tell! Next favourite is Dead Simple which I am sure you have read.

  I am reading the Alcemist now. I started it and then when I was away I started on Faith and Dreamer so have only now got back to the Alcemist! They are all brilliant!
  I've read Dead Simple and Lookng Good Dead - and loved both of them. Inspector Roy Grace is the perfect main character!
  Now looking forward to the new one in June!

  Nice to know I am not the only one who gets stuck into a book at 11pm at night!!

  "There's a time and a place for getting utterly hooked on a great book, and in bed at 10.30pm when the alarm is set for a 5.45am start isn't it.
  But so it was with Peter James' Not Dead Enough, which just caught fire last night as I broke through the 100 page barrier.
  150 pages and 90 minutes later I forced myself to put it down. But an early night beckons tonight and I suspect a review will be forthcoming soon.
