FISHY BUSINESS, THESE AWARDS...

Well, I made a promise to you all that if I won the Specsavers ITV3 People's Bestseller Dagger Award, then I'd celebrate by buying fish and chips for any of you who turned up on Brighton Pier the following day! To my total and utter amazement, beating the other shortlisted authors, Lee Child, David Baldacci, Mark Billingham and Peter Robinson, I won!!!!! I'm still walking on air! Unlike so many awards which decided by elite judging panels, this one is voted for 100% by the public, and therefore is to me the most meaningful of all of them. I cannot thank you all enough for the wonderful support all those of you gave me by voting for me. Truly there is a cod :-)

PS you can see the awards and my (hopefully not too drunken...) acceptance speech at 9pm this Tuesday, Oct 11th at 9pm!

    Congratulations, Peter.

I wish I'd have more time to stop by on your official website, but I'm glad you are also on Twitter where I can send you messages sometimes ;)

Anyway, it's lovely to see you so up close with your readers/fans. How wonderful that there are still successful, famous people out there that still remain down-to-earth and continue to appreciate their fans and engage with them in any way possible.

You are a sweetheart, Peter. And that's why I'll gladly support your brilliant work.

Hi Peter - many, many congratulations and, as you say, how wonderful that you have so many lovely loyal fans who voted in their thousands. Finally, you get the recognitiion you deserve....well done.

Sorry to have missed out on the fish and chips - but a bit of a long journey even to see dear old Brighton Pier again!

    Kindest regards

Like Celia, I (and Harry McCatley) were unable to be there for the fish and chips, shame cos looks like a great time was had by all....but we are 'ober der moonz' (McCatley) that you finally got what you deserved. P.S. Harry says he will settle for a tin of tuna. My mother and Rena say to say they are both delighted too, 'seeing as how it was us told you about Dead Simple in the first place.' A great result indeed.

Congratulations, it should be all the more special to win from such a collection of talented authors. I have just read Dead Man's Grip and of course loved it as I did all the rest and thought it was also nice to see the ambulance service get more of an in depth mention than just a passing one as normally happens. It sounds like you have been out third-manning with a local crew! Any time you want to come out with us from Guildford Ambulance station you are very welcome!

Thanks so much Wendy. That is a lovely invitation - and it would be very interesting. Perhaps in the New Year? If you email me on scary@pavilion.co.uk
